The Officers and Directors of The 67th Calorimetry Conference in conjunction with ICCT 2012 are pleased to announce the organization of a Workshop on Biothermodynamics in Drug Design/Discovery. CALCON 2012 marks the fifth consecutive meeting in which The Calorimetry Conference has sponsored tutorials/workshops that address timely topics in calorimetry and/or thermodynamics. Biothermodynamics in Drug Design/Discovery will convene on the weekend immediately preceding the conference (4 - 5 August 2012).
The Workshop will commence on Saturday afternoon with two dynamic tutorials on Applications of Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) and Isothermal Titration Calorimetry (ITC) followed by a Question and Answer session for workshop participants. The Sunday morning and afternoon sessions are comprised of 45-minute lectures presented by Invited Speakers.
The Workshop Organizers have secured the commitment of international experts who apply calorimetric methods and techniques to characterize the energetics of macromolecular interactions. Confirmed speakers in the Biothermodynamics Workshop include: Prof. Lee Hansen (Brigham Young University, U.S.A); Prof. Carlos Ramos (UNICAMP, Brazil); Prof. Gerhard Klebe (University of Marburg, Germany); Prof. Michael K. Gilson (University of California at San Diego, U.S.A); Dr. Glyn Williams (Astex Therapeutics Ltd., United Kingdom); and, Prof. John Ladbury (The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, U.S.A). Our keynote lecturer is Prof. Peter L. Privalov (The Johns Hopkins University, U.S.A) who will be recognized for his distinguished contributions to the field of biothermodynamics with a special luncheon convened in his honor on Sunday afternoon.
The Workshop will conclude with an open forum panel discussion on Current Topics in Biothermodynamics moderated by Profs. Carlos Montanari (Universidade de São Paulo, Brazil ), Carlos Ramos (UNICAMP, Brazil), and David P. Remeta (Rutgers University, U.S.A.). We cordially invite all ICCT 2012 registrants to join us for an informative and timely Workshop on Biothermodynamics in Drug Design/Discovery.
